You’ve probably heard of the intense megaformer workouts that combine Pilates, cardio, and strength training in one. They focus on slow-burning movements that are designed to build endurance, strength, and those well-defined muscles. I’m happy to report that SLT (Strengthen-Lengthen-Tone) just opened its first Philly studio on 16th & Walnut Streets in Center City, and you can try a class for just $15.
I’m a big fan of workouts that don’t feel like a chore; I’ll do boxing drills all day, but I hate running aimlessly on a treadmill. Each SLT class is 50 minutes, which is perfect for all of us busy people who want exercise to be both effective and efficient. My first class definitely had me shaking, but it went by so quickly that I actually was surprised when my instructor, Katie, said the class was over. I also love the small class size. There are only about a dozen machines, so it feels more personal.
I suggest you bring grippy socks if you come to a class, though you can also borrow or buy them in the studio.
Have you tried a megaformer workout? What do you think?
